The Extremely Lucrative Hotel Status Match

Latest Updates:

May 31, 2023: Wyndham status match is back LIVE

Feb 8, 2023: Caesars Diamond to MGM Gold is now DEAD

In this post, I’m going to show you how you can maximize the benefits across various hotel chains.

How?

By leveraging various hotel/casino status matching opportunities.

Let’s dive right in.

Step 1: Marriott Gold to Wyndham Diamond

You’ll need some sort of hotel status to get started, and the easiest one to obtain is Marriott Gold Elite status.

You can simply sign up for the American Express Platinum Card to receive Marriott Gold Elite status instantly.

Alternatively, you can stay 25 nights at Marriott hotels, but this isn’t quite easy for most of us.

Once you have Marriott Gold status, you can request a status match to Wyndham Diamond here.

It’ll ask you to simply upload a screenshot of your Marriott status.

The process will take about 3-5 business days.

Your matched status will only be valid for 90 days, so you must take the next step within that 90-day window.

Step 2: Wyndham Diamond to Caesars Diamond

Caesars Palace Las Vegas

You may be wondering…

Why do I need a Wyndham status? A hotel chain that’s not even inspiring?

Because Wyndham Diamond can be matched to Caesars Diamond (and vice versa).

And Caesars Diamond status is the GOLDEN KEY we’re trying to obtain.

So let’s go ahead and get your Wyndham Diamond matched to Caesars Diamond

This process may take up to 2 weeks.

You should receive an email notification, but you can also check your Caesars account periodically.

So what does Caesars Diamond get you?

Without a doubt, a huge benefit here is the resort fee waiver.

I can’t even remember how many times I’ve been frustrated with these additional $40-$50/night in resort fees from my past stays.

Step 3-A: Caesars Diamond to MGM Gold (NOW DEAD)

This step is dead for now as MGM is only matching Caesars Diamond to MGM Pearl.

The next two steps are a workaround, but it requires a visit to Atlantic City.

The story doesn’t end here.

Caesars Diamond can also be matched to MGM Resort’s status M Life Gold.

However, the catch here is that you must physically visit an MGM property to do the status match.

So don’t forget to do this if you’re in Las Vegas next time.

Step 3-B: Caesars Diamond to Rock Royalty (in person)

Caesars Diamond status can stretch further to match Hard Rock Hotel’s top tier Rock Royalty status.

However, this step requires a physical visit to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City.

Rock Royalty Status Perks:

  • Two complimentary Nights
  • Priority lines for check-in, and Fresh Harvest Seafood Buffet
  • Complimentary valet parking
  • $50 Bonus free play
  • Access to Legends Lounge for you and a guest for $10 Comp Dollars each

Step 4: Rock Royalty to Ocean Prime (in person)

If you’ve managed to get Rock Royalty status, you should definitely head over to Ocean Casino Hotel to get your status matched to Ocean Prime.

Ocean Prime status comes with quite cool travel benefits:

  • 2 complimentary nights at Wynn Las Vegas with $50 dining credit.
  • Complimentary MSC cruise for two, up to 7 days. (No port fees or taxes !!)

Step 5: Ocean Prime to MGM Gold (in person)

Bellagio Las Vegas (MGM Property)

If you’ve managed to stop by at Atlantic city, consider visiting Borgata hotel casino.

You’ll be able to get your Ocean Prime status matched to MGM Gold at the rewards desk. (You can also do this at any MGM property in Las Vegas)

MGM Gold Status Perks:

  • NO RESORT FEES on any hotel stay
  • Priority lines for check-in and participating restaurants
  • Enhanced room based on availability
  • Complimentary valet parking

Step 6: MGM Gold to Hyatt Explorist

Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi

You’ve come to the last step, finally.

You can match your MGM Gold status to Hyatt Explorist status.

While the perks aren’t really breathtaking, I’ve definitely appreciated the late check-outs and free bottled waters (especially in Europe!)

Hyatt Explorist Status Perks:

  • Priority lines for check-in
  • 2PM late check-out
  • Room upgrades upon availability (excluding suites)
  • Complimentary premium Wi-Fi
  • Complimentary bottled water

Insider Tip

Want to know the best part?

You can keep this cycle going every year. (without physical visits!)

Because each program has its own status expiry date.

Hotel ChainExpiry Date
WyndhamDec 31
CaesarsJan 31
MGMJan 31
HyattFeb 28

You’ve guessed it.

In January each year:

– Match your Caesars Diamond to Wyndham Diamond. (They have a reciprocal match program remember?)

In February each year:

– Match your Wyndham Diamond back to Caesars Diamond.

– Match your Hyatt Explorist to MGM Gold (this does not require a physical visit unlike previously).

In March each year:

– Match your MGM Gold back to Hyatt Explorist.

This is crazy… just with few mouse clicks, you’re snatching 6 different hotel statuses!

Although this is skewed towards casino resorts, considering the minimal effort required (except requiring a visit to Atlantic City),

I still find it extremely valuable.
