7 Best Hotels in Downtown Toronto (I’ve stayed at them all)

Planning a trip to Toronto but can’t decide which hotel to stay at?

Well, you’re in the right place.

In this post, I’m going to spill the beans on the seven best hotels in Downtown Toronto in 2024.

These are the hotels I’ve actually stayed in, so you can trust that I’ll give you honest opinions.

So, grab a coffee, get comfy, and let’s dive in!

1. Delta Hotels Toronto

Delta Hotels Toronto scores the top spot on my list.

With its convenient airport access, modern design, and close proximity to attractions, this hotel provides all the essentials for a tourist.

Many of its rooms boast breathtaking views of the CN Tower or the harborfront.

The best part? The soaking bathtub.

There’s truly nothing more delightful than relaxing in a bath while gazing at the skyline after a long day of exploring the city on foot.

2. Hilton Toronto

Claiming the second spot on my list is Hilton Toronto, which has recently undergone a complete renovation.

While the exterior may appear dated, it reflects the spaciousness of the rooms, reminiscent of an era when room sizes were more generous.

Located near City Hall, the hotel is nestled amidst both the financial and entertainment districts.

This prime location offers a dynamic scenery, allowing you to immerse yourself in the vibrant local scene rather than being surrounded solely by fellow tourists.

3. Sheraton Centre Toronto

Taking the third spot is Sheraton Centre Toronto.

Built around the same era as Hilton Toronto, it shares many similarities.

Old building from the outside, but compensated by spacious rooms.

The hotel is situated right beside the City Hall and Eaton Centre, Toronto’s flagship shopping complex.

While the views are slightly better, the rooms are still outdated, leading to its lower ranking compared to the Hilton Toronto.

However, if you hold a Marriott Platinum status or higher, you should definitely consider Sheraton Centre Toronto.

Because the executive lounge located on the top floor boasts breathtaking interior and food offerings, offsetting the rusty guest room.

4. Fairmont Royal York

If you’re seeking a place where history meets luxury, look no further than Toronto’s iconic landmark hotel, Fairmont Royal York.

Conveniently located just one train ride from the airport, the hotel is located in close proximity to numerous tourist attractions.

With its rich history, luxurious accommodations, and impeccable service, Fairmont Royal York offers a truly regal experience.

One downside is that this hotel can be quite pricey during peak seasons, which might not justify the cost if you plan to spend most of your time outside exploring the city.

Whether you’re sipping cocktails in the elegant lobby bar or indulging in gourmet cuisine at one of the hotel’s restaurants, every moment at Fairmont Royal York is definitely instagrammable.

5. Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville

If you’re looking for a brand new hotel with modern design, Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville is for you.

This stylish hotel first opened in 2023, located in the trendy Yorkville neighborhood.

So you’re guaranteed to have the newest bedding, furnishings, and amenities.

One downside is sits slightly off-center location, lacking proximity to Toronto’s major tourist attractions such as CN tower and Dundas Square.

Nevertheless, if you enjoy exploring boutiques, art galleries, and eateries, this hotel offers a solid choice.

6. Residence Inn Toronto

If you’re planning an extended stay or travelling with family in Toronto, Residence Inn Toronto might be the perfect option for you.

This hotel offers spacious suites with fully equipped kitchens, and all the comforts of home in the heart of the city.

Moreover, it offers complimentary breakfast for all guests, adding further value to your stay.

It’s also located in Toronto’s entertainment district, the hotel offers easy access to a variety of attractions and the vibrant scenery of the city, all within walking distance.

7. Holiday Inn Downtown Toronto

Last but not least, if you’re looking for a simple comfort and affordable stay,

Holiday Inn Downtown Toronto Centre might be a good choice.

While the location maybe slightly off-centered, this hotel offers a valuable feature for travelers interested in visiting Niagara Falls.

Daily roundtrip shuttle buses run from the hotel to Niagara falls, providing a convenient transportation option. (Trust me, getting to Niagara Falls on public transit is a nightmare)

More information about the shuttle service can be found on Safeway Tours website.
