    Find the seat or the room first, then buy only what that award needs.

    No refunds, and the points can't be sent back. Buy for a trip, not just in case.

    Currency and tax

    Most programs charge in US dollars, so a foreign transaction fee applies unless your card waives it (Aeroplan charges Canadians in Canadian dollars). Hilton adds GST/HST for Canadians.

    Caps and posting times

    Every program caps purchases a year, and points can take a few days to post. Bought points don't count toward status.
