Buy World of Hyatt Points: 20% Off Sales and When They Come

Hyatt's discount is only 20%, but since August 2025 a sale has been on about two-thirds of the time.

Share
The short version
  • Hyatt sells points at 20% off or with a 20% bonus, and since August 2025 a sale has been on about two-thirds of the time.
  • At 20% off, points cost about 2.08 US cents each, the lowest price Hyatt offered in that time.
  • You can buy up to 55,000 points a year, with a minimum of 5,000 in the latest sale.
  • No Canadian credit card points transfer to Hyatt.

World of Hyatt doesn't do big bonuses. Its sales are 20% off, or once in a while 20% more points, and that's it.

What Hyatt does do is run them for a long time. From August 2025 to October 2026, a sale was on for 299 of 436 days, about two-thirds of the time. The last one ended October 5, 2026.

What a point costs

At 20% off, Hyatt points cost about 2.08 US cents each, or about 2.9 Canadian cents at the October 16 exchange rate. The 20% bonus in mid-2026 worked out a little higher, at about 2.17 US cents.

That makes Hyatt the most expensive hotel currency on my buy points page. Hyatt awards usually need fewer points than other chains, though, so the price per point isn't the whole story.

When buying makes sense

Price the stay in cash and in points, then multiply the points by 2.08 cents. A night at 15,000 points would cost about US$312 in bought points, so it's only worth it when the cash rate is higher than that.

The 55,000-point yearly limit keeps it to a top-up anyway. It's for finishing off an award, not for funding a whole trip.

Can you transfer instead?

No Canadian credit card points transfer to Hyatt. For Canadians, buying during a sale is one of the few shortcuts besides earning on stays.

Since July 2026, Hyatt points can also go to Aeroplan at 2:1 under the Aeroplan and World of Hyatt partnership. Please don't buy Hyatt points for that, though: it would cost over 4 US cents per Aeroplan point.

How to buy

  1. Sign in at Hyatt.com and open the buy points page.
  2. Choose the amount. During a sale, the discount or bonus shows before you pay.
  3. Pay in US dollars.

In the May 2026 sale, LoyaltyLobby reported that accounts had to be at least 60 days old. Purchases are final.

Final Thoughts

Hyatt's sale comes back often and lasts for weeks, so there's no reason to buy at full price.

And at 2 US cents or more a point, I'd only buy to finish off a specific award.

Which Hyatt would you use your points at? Let me know in the comments.
