Since I was attending a DJ tour in downtown Toronto, I wanted to stay overnight near the event venue.
Given that these events often conclude very late at night, my goal was to minimize travel time and quickly retire to bed after the event.
Luckily, I had an Annual Free Night Award from American Express Marriott Bonvoy Card, which covered the cost of my hotel stay.
Booking (Sep 2023)
Delta Hotels Toronto typically goes for around $400-$500 during peak summer months, and it can even get more expensive on event dates, which happens quite frequently in that neighbourhood.
On the night of my stay, the room rates were going for $550+ for a King bed room.
Booking using my Free Night Award with an additional 2,000 points provided an exceptional value.
Location
The hotel is located in the heart of Toronto’s downtown core, near the iconic CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, and the Rogers Centre.
Its proximity to these landmarks makes it a popular choice for visitors wanting to explore Toronto.
Additionally, reaching the hotel from the airport is a seamless journey with just one train ride on the UP Express to Union station, followed by a 10-minute walk.
Lobby & Check-in
The entire check-in process was very smooth.
There are three front desk counters, one being a priority lane for Bonvoy Elite members.
With about six staffs assisting check-in process, long queues were effectively prevented.
Having experienced numerous instances of lengthy check-in lines during peak times, this efficiency was truly impressive.
Every member of the front desk team I interacted with demonstrated professionalism and a proactive approach, including the trainees.
Room (Deluxe 1 King Corner room)
I originally booked a standard king room, but as a Marriott Titanium Elite member,
I politely inquired via the app’s chat function the day before my check-in about the possibility of a room upgrade (a practice affectionately known as “suite-talking” 😀).
Unfortunately no suites were available on that night, but I did manage to secure an upgrade to a corner room.
The room is rather on the smaller side (around 360 sqft), but displays a modern and chic ambience overall.

As a corner room guest, I had the privilege of enjoying both the skyline and CN Tower views. (though access to both view was limited to the bathroom)
Desk Area
Given the small room size, the desk is also a bit small but good enough for geting some work done.
The desk is facing directly the CN Tower, and it was a delight to enjoy the view during short breaks from work.
The Wi-Fi offered decent stability and speed, averaging around 80mbps, which was more than sufficient for work tasks or streaming media.

Bathroom
What differentiates a deluxe room from standard room is the soaking bathtub.
There’s truly nothing more delightful than relaxing in a bath while gazing at the panoramic skyline after a long day.
The toiletries were fairly standard, featuring the Sopabox brand shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Executive Lounge
Delta Hotels Toronto has a Club Lounge located on the 43rd floor.
Platinum Elite members and above plus guests staying in Club Lounge access rooms have complimentary access to the lounge.
The moderately sized lounge features floor-to-ceiling windows, with few different areas offering unique atmospheres.

In addition to the breath-taking views of the CN tower and Lake Ontario, coffee, tea, soft drinks, and light snacks are served throughout the day.

Hors d’oeuvres are served from 5pm to 8pm, and it certainly lived up to my expectations.
While the food options weren’t extensive, there was a solid mix of hot and cold dishes displayed aesthetically, complemented by eye-catching desserts.
In my opinion, it perfectly embodied the essence of hors d’oeuvres, which are meant to tease the taste buds rather than stuff your stomach.

Breakfast
For Platinum Elite members and above, complimentary breakfast is served in the Club Lounge located on the 43rd floor.
The breakfast spread was quite satisfactory, offering a continental breakfast along with extras like like yogurt parfait, smoked salmon and variety of fresh fruits.

Amenities
Delta Hotels Toronto has both gym and pool located on the fourth floor.
Gym
The gym is decently sized and operates 24 hours.
It has a great mix of cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights.
(Unfortunately no smith machine unfortunately for gym bros)
It also has a separate fitness studio for yoga and exercise classes.

Pool
Next to the gym is an indoor heated pool that’s open daily from 6am to 11pm.
There are sun deck chairs available for guests to relax, along with a hot tub.
The pool also features a small balcony area facing directly towards the CN Tower, where you can enjoy some fresh air and people-watch.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at Delta Toronto, and I’d confidently rank this hotel as my top pick for accommodation in Toronto.
With easy access from the airport and a prime location for exploring the city’s attractions, it’s an excellent choice for travelers.
I’ve also found it to be well-suited for locals seeking for staycation, business traveler, and families catching a game at Rogers Centre.
From the rooms to the amenities to the exceptional club lounge, Delta Toronto exceeded all my expectations.
I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again in the future.
