- The Scotiabank® Gold American Express® Card offers up to 65,000 Scene+ points (about $650) for accounts opened November 2, 2026 to January 3, 2027.
- 40,000 points come after $2,000 in 3 months, and 25,000 more after $7,500 in 12 months.
- Anyone who has held a Scotiabank personal credit card in the past two years isn't eligible.
- The card costs $120 a year and earns up to 6x Scene+ points on groceries, dining and entertainment in Canada, with no foreign transaction fee.
Scotiabank has a new welcome offer on the Scotiabank® Gold American Express® Card: up to 65,000 Scene+ points for accounts opened between November 2, 2026 and January 3, 2027. At Scene+'s fixed value, that's up to $650 on a card that costs $120 a year.
It's 15,000 points more than the 50,000 offer that ended November 1. I hold this card myself, so I can't get the bonus, but if you can, it's a good window to apply.
The offer
The 65,000 points come in two parts:
- 40,000 Scene+ points after $2,000 in eligible purchases in the first 3 months
- 25,000 more after $7,500 in the first 12 months
Each bonus lands about eight weeks after you hit its spend. The window counts from the day the account is opened, not the day you apply, so an application approved after January 3 misses out.
Next to the last offer, the first tier went from 30,000 to 40,000 points for the same $2,000. The second went from 20,000 to 25,000 for the same $7,500.
What the card earns
Then there's the everyday earning. The card earns Scene+ points on purchases in Canada:
| Where you spend | Points per $1 | Return at 1 cpp |
|---|---|---|
| Sobeys, Safeway, FreshCo, Foodland and more | 6x | 6% |
| Dining, food delivery, food subscriptions and other groceries | 5x | 5% |
| Entertainment (movies, theatre, ticket agencies) | 5x | 5% |
| Gas, transit and streaming | 3x | 3% |
| Everything else, including travel | 1x | 1% |
The 6x, 5x and 3x rates share a $50,000 cap per calendar year, and purchases outside Canada earn 1x. Hotels and car rentals booked through Scene+ Travel earn 3 extra points per dollar.
There's no foreign transaction fee either. Scene+ points are worth a fixed 1 cent per point (cpp) toward travel, so the math stays simple: 65,000 points is $650.
The fee
The card costs $120 a year, and this offer doesn't waive it. Scotiabank's page lists two other ways: a Preferred Package chequing account waives the first year's fee, and an Ultimate Package waives it every year.
Those are bank accounts with their own costs, so I'd only go that route if you'd bank with Scotiabank anyway.
Also new: the Passport Visa Infinite+
The Scotiabank Passport® Visa Infinite +* Card has a new offer on the same dates: up to 45,000 Scene+ points. That's 15,000 after $3,000 in 3 months and 20,000 more after $10,000 in 6 months, plus the card's standing 10,000-point bonus once you spend $40,000 in a year.
It costs $150 a year and comes with six lounge visits, so it's the travel half of the pair. The same two-year rule applies.
My take
If you're eligible, 65,000 points for $7,500 of spending is an easy $650, and the first $2,000 alone gets you $400. The full $650 covers more than five years of annual fees.
Beyond year one, it comes down to food. If groceries and restaurants are a big part of your budget and you shop where Amex is accepted, 5x to 6x at a fixed 1 cpp is hard to beat in Scene+.
I use mine for groceries and gas, and I make good use of Amex Offers when they come around. For now, though, groceries and gas go on my Capital One Quicksilver World Elite Mastercard® until its first year is up. Capital One matches my first year of cash back, so it's 6% on both.
Final Thoughts
The last offer ran four months, from July to November 1. This one runs two, until January 3, 2027, so don't sit on it if you've been away from Scotiabank's cards for more than two years.
Which of the two are you going for? Let me know in the comments!
