Kicking off my Thailand trip in Bangkok in January 2023, I was in search of a hotel to stay at.
(By the way, If you haven’t visited Thailand, the Land of Smiles, yet, you need to question yourself…you’re missing out!)
Thailand has long been known for its top-notch hospitality industry, and I wanted to have a firsthand experience to find out for myself.
As I was going to lose my Marriott Titanium Elite status next month, I wanted to take advantage of it before it expired.
After doing some research on Marriott hotels in Bangkok, I found great reviews about the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park and decided to give it a try.
Booking (Jan 2023)
Room rates for Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park typically range from $250 to $300 per night.
While this quite a decent rate for a signature Marriott property,
it was hard for me to justify paying this much in Bangkok, where you can easily find a 4-star hotel with breakfast included for around $40 per night.
And since I was staying for 5 nights, I took advantage of Marriott’s 5th Night Free and paid a total of 85,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points.
Location
The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Bangkok, offering easy access to the city’s major attractions and business districts.
Situated in the vibrant(?) Sukhumvit area, it is just a short walk from Phrom Phong BTS station.
The hotel is adjacent to Benjasiri Park, a lush green space where I enjoyed taking a walk every morning after breakfast. (Well, I had to, as I was stuffed from the hotel’s incredible breakfast every day! 🐷🐷)
Lobby & Check-in
The lobby was quite fancy, with a modern design blended with Thai decor.
There were plenty of seating areas for guests to relax and a grand piano that was occasionally played by a performer in the evening.
Additionally, there were at least eight check-in desks, ensuring a smooth check-in experience even during peak hours.

Despite holding a Titanium Elite status, I didn’t receive any room upgrades.😭
Normally, in this situation, the hotel would simply apologize, which I wouldn’t mind.
However, what Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park did was superb.
They offered me a choice of gifts, which included:
- F&B credits valued at THB 1,000 per stay
- 2,000 Bonus points credit per stay
- a complimentary bottle of house wine (red/white)
Since I had access to the executive lounge, I didn’t need the F&B credit, and I’m not a big wine person, so I chose the points.
This gesture exemplifies why Bangkok is renowned for its exceptional hospitality.
Elevators
There were eight elevators operating at the hotel, the most I’ve seen at any single property.
Room
The room was quite spacious, and the king size bed was very comfortable.
Welcome Gift
Shortly after checking in, a staff member knocked on my door and presented me with a welcome gift:
a glass of iced Thai milk tea and Siam tea cookies.
It was steaming hot on that day and the cold Thai tea felt like an oasis in the desert.
These small gestures of Thai hospitality kept surprising me and left a lasting impression, making me want to return to this property.
I truly wish hotels in other parts of the world understood that small efforts like these can leave a significant positive impression on guests,
making them highly likely to become loyal returning customers.

In addition, there was a small bag of chocolate to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
It’s quite sad that it’s hard to expect even a small thing like this Canadian hotels.
View
The view was quite stunning, offering a breathtaking panorama of Bangkok’s skyline with its impressive skyscrapers.
Bed
The king size mattress had a medium firmness, and there were nightstands placed on both sides of the bed.
Desk Area
By the window, there was a round table with an office chair.
While you could do some light work, the setup wasn’t really ergonomic for extended periods.
Next do the desk area was a sofa with coffee table, perfect for relaxing or reading books and newspapers.
TV
The room was equipped with a large flat-screen TV mounted on the wall.
However, a small downside was that the TV wasn’t aligned with the bed,
making it less than ideal for watching TV while in bed (my neck hurt a bit after an hour lol).
I don’t normally watch TV when I’m staying at hotels (come on, we should all be exploring outside during our travels!).
But during my stay this time, there was an AFC Asian Cup soccer game going on, and I wanted to watch the match.
When I turned on the TV, I noticed severe discoloration on the screen, likely caused by burn-in on the panel.
I contacted the front desk to inform them about the issue, mainly to ensure I wouldn’t be held liable for the damage.
To my surprise, ten minutes later, two staff members showed up at my room with a brand-new TV and installed it on the spot. 🤯
This hotel just never stopped impressing me.
Bathroom
Compared to the size of the room, the bathroom was quite compact, but yet neat and modern.
Although there was no bathtub, the shower booth was quite spacious, allowing for a comfortable shower for a big person like me.

Executive Lounge
Platinum Elite member and above have access to the executive lounge,
which features both an indoor area and an outdoor rooftop patio.
While the patio was amazing with the panoramic city view, it was too hot to enjoy for more than 10 minutes.

The lounge serves light snacks and fresh fruit throughout the day.
The sandwiches were particularly good, and the fruit was exceptionally fresh and sweet.

In the evening, the lounge provides nearly a full meal, elevating the experience beyond the usual hors d’oeuvres found at many Marriott hotels.
The menu features a diverse array of Thai and Western dishes, with an excellent selection of desserts to round out the offering.

For Platinum Elite and above members, complimentary breakfast is served in the goji kitchen+bar located in the lobby floor.
Without any exaggeration, this was probably the best breakfast I’ve ever had at a hotel.
I’d even wake up at 4am for this breakfast if I had to.
The variety of dishes served at the restaurant was just impeccable.

Amenities
Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park has both gym and pool.
Gym
The gym was very well-maintained, with a staff member on duty.
It featured an adequate number of cardio and cable machines, as well as dumbbells and barbells.
Personal training sessions were also available for an additional cost.

Squash Court
The gym also had a squash court, though I’m not sure if rackets are available for rent.
Pool
There was a large outdoor pool with ample space for lounging and sunbathing.

Final Thoughts
Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park not only met but exceeded my expectations in every possible way.
The dedication and attention to detail demonstrated by the staffs truly made me valued and cared throughout my stay.
This hotel raised my hotel standard and now I’m afraid I will be disappointed at my future stays at other hotels.😆
Without a doubt, this hotel has secured a permanent spot on my list of favorite hotels, and I look forward to the day I can once again enjoy this hidden gem.
