the first ever Hilton to land in the U.K.

My father and I went for a quick 3 day trip to England to catch a football game.
London is notorious when it comes to expenses.
On average, the nightly rate for a standard room at London Hilton on Park Lane is about £400. 😱
We were lucky enough to offset our expenses by redeeming our accumulated Hilton points, at 80,000 points per night.
During the weekend of our visit, the room rates soared to nearly £1000/night due to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
This unexpected surge in prices made our points redemption all the more valuable and rewarding.
Where it sitsLocation
The hotel is located right in the heart of Mayfair, offering breathtaking views of Hyde Park and the iconic London skyline.
Getting to the hotel from London Heathrow airport is a breeze,
A 45-minute subway journey on the Piccadilly line, followed by a 5 minute walk.
It’s a perfect base for exploring the city, with many attractions within walking distance and excellent transport links nearby.

In contrast to the outdated exterior, the hotel lobby boasted an elegant interior design.
Arriving at the hotel around noon, we were grateful to discover that our Hilton Diamond status worked in our favor,
as the staff kindly accommodated an early check-in for us.
This gesture felt like a true blessing, since we were utterly exhausted from a lengthy red-eye flight.

Although we didn’t receive any room upgrades on this stay, it was understandable considering the hotel was fully booked due to the funeral proceedings of the Queen.

London Hilton on Park Lane has an executive lounge that you can access by being a Diamond member (or by booking a lounge access room)`
The lounge may not offer expansive views as it’s located in a low-level floor.
However, the food options surpassed my expectations.

The lounge is open daily from 7AM to 10PM, with the following hospitality hours:
- Breakfast: 7 – 11AM
- Pastries: 2 – 4PM
- Canapés: 5 – 7PM
- Alcoholic Drinks: 5 – 8PM

While I typically don’t frequent expensive restaurants or have much of an appreciation for fine dining (I’m more of an “eat to live” kind of guy), I wanted to treat my dad a special experience and spend some quality time together.
I had heard excellent reviews about a Michelin Star restaurant called Galvin at Windows located on the 28th floor of the hotel.
We decided to go for the 3-course menu, which wasn’t overly expensive.
Given that we had plans to catch a football game later on, we opted to skip the wine and planned to enjoy beer at the stadium instead.

Unfortunately London Hilton on Park lane does not have a pool.
However, there’s a fully quipped gym.
Yes, “fully equipped”, from cardio machines to dumbbells to smith machine.
I was eager to get a workout in, but my legs were already dying from all the walking around London.
In the end, I settled for some stretching and called it a day.

The verdictFinal Thoughts
London Hilton on Park Lane definitely met my expectations.
Although the building may look old from the outside, I can tell that they’ve made continuous effort to renovate and maintain a modern interior while preserving the old-fashioned decor.
I was especially impressed by the quality of the executive lounge.
While it remains uncertain whether I’ll be able to afford a £400/night hotel on my next re-visit to London, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this hotel again.
A genuinely glamorous London base that punches well above its points price — if you can land the upgrade. The hardware is aging gracefully; the location and the breakfast are the real headliners.

- Location is unbeatable for Mayfair and the parks
- Suite upgrades clear more often than you’d expect
Skip it if…
- You’re a light sleeper sensitive to AC hum
- You want sparkling-new, ultra-modern hardware
- You’re paying cash at full rack rate
- You need a big hotel pool (there isn’t one)
