The moi RBC Visa is RBC's co-brand with Metro's Moi program, and it only makes sense if you already shop at Metro, Jean Coutu or the other Moi stores. It earns 2 Moi points per $1 on dining, gas and EV charging, and at Moi stores when you also swipe your Moi card, with 1 point everywhere else, for $0 a year.
At RBC's figure of 500 points for $4, that works out to 1.6% back in the top categories and 0.8% on the rest. I'd point Quebec shoppers who already carry a Moi card toward it; outside Quebec the points only spend at Jean Coutu, which narrows its appeal a lot.
Welcome offer
The moi RBC Visa is offering up to 5,000 bonus Moi points, which RBC values at $40, on applications received by January 20, 2027 (verified on RBC's page on October 15, 2026). You get 3,000 points with your first purchase and 2,000 more once $500 in purchases or pre-authorized bill payments posts in the first 3 months.
You need a valid Moi card linked to the credit card to qualify, and authorized users and existing RBC personal cardholders switching into this card are not eligible. Each batch of points posts about 6 weeks after you qualify, and the account has to stay open and in good standing until then.
The $500 works out to about $167 a month over 3 months, so putting groceries and one recurring bill on the card clears it. Link your Moi card to the account early, since the offer requires it.
Fees & eligibility
The card costs $0 a year, and additional cards are free. RBC lists no minimum income.
Purchases carry 20.99% interest and cash advances 22.99% (21.99% if you live in Quebec), the same rates as RBC's other no-fee cards. Cash advances and balance transfers earn no Moi points. The product page does not print the foreign transaction fee, grace period or minimum payment, so confirm them with RBC before using the card outside Canada.
Earning rewards
Earning has two rates, and the top one at the grocery store depends on carrying two cards. At participating Metro, Brunet and Première Moisson stores in Quebec and Jean Coutu stores in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick, you earn 2 Moi points per $1 (before taxes) when you swipe your Moi card and pay with the moi RBC Visa. The card also earns 2 points per $1 on dining, gas and EV charging anywhere, with no Moi card needed.
Everything else earns 1 Moi point per $1, including Super C, which is a Moi store but gets no extra point from the card. At 0.8 cents per point (cpp), 2 points per $1 is worth about 1.6% and 1 point about 0.8%. No earning caps are printed.
Redeeming rewards
Moi points are spent at the checkout, in-store or online, at participating Metro, Super C, Première Moisson and Brunet stores in Quebec and Jean Coutu stores in Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario. The minimum is 500 points for $4 off before taxes, then steps of 125 points ($1 each), and the purchase has to be worth at least the points you redeem.
That fixes the value at 0.8 cpp, with no travel or transfer option to stretch it. Points land in your Moi account monthly, and the program belongs to Metro, which can change the redemption rate.
Perks & benefits
The most useful perk for a no-fee card is mobile device insurance: up to $1,000 per claim for 2 years when you buy the phone or tablet with the card (details below). Beyond that you get two of RBC's partner offers: link the card to Petro-Points to save 3 cents per litre at Petro-Canada and earn 20% more Petro-Points, and to Triangle Rewards for 3x Canadian Tire Money at Canadian Tire, Sport Chek and Mark's.
There is no lounge access, no travel credit and no included travel insurance. RBC sells travel cover as an optional add-on.
Insurance
Insurance covers your purchases and your phone, all underwritten by RBC Insurance Company of Canada. Mobile device insurance pays up to $1,000 per claim for loss, theft, accidental damage or mechanical failure, from day 91 to 2 years after you buy the device with the card (or charge every monthly bill on a financed plan to it). Payouts are reduced by 2% depreciation per completed month plus a 10% deductible, and you are limited to 1 claim per 12 months and 2 per 48 months.
Purchase security covers items for 90 days against loss, theft or damage, up to $50,000 per account per calendar year, and the extended warranty doubles the manufacturer's warranty by up to 1 extra year. Both are excess or secondary insurance, paying after any other cover you hold. There is no travel insurance, no rental car cover and no travel accident cover.
My take
I'd get the moi RBC Visa if you already shop at Metro or Jean Coutu in Quebec with a Moi card; if you don't, I'd skip it for a card whose points spend anywhere.
The math is modest but honest: 1.6% back on dining, gas, EV charging and Moi-store groceries, 0.8% on everything else, with no fee and a $1,000 phone insurance policy that RBC's no-fee ION Visa doesn't include. For a Quebec household doing its weekly shop at Metro, that adds up without any effort.
The weak spots are the 0.8% base rate and the closed loop. You can only spend the points at Metro-group checkouts, and outside Quebec that means Jean Coutu alone. From what I can tell, it works best as the grocery and dining card in a two-card setup, not as your only card.
The good
- No annual fee
- 2x on dining, gas, EV charging and Moi stores
- $1,000 mobile device insurance
The catch
- Points spend only at Metro-group stores
- 0.8% on everything else
- Top store rate needs your Moi card swiped too
