If Canadian Tire, Sport Chek or Mark's is where your household buys tires, tools and kids' hockey gear, the Triangle World Elite is an easy no-fee add. It pays 4% back in CT Money there, 3% on groceries up to $12,000 a year, and 5 to 7 cents a litre at Gas+ and Petro-Canada, and the CT Money is worth face value at the till.
What I like most is the roadside plan: five service calls a year with tows up to 250 km, on a card with no fee. The trade-offs are that CT Money only spends in the Canadian Tire family, the 2.5% foreign transaction fee rules it out for trips, and there is no travel medical or trip insurance at all.
Welcome offer
There is no welcome bonus on the Triangle World Elite Mastercard as of October 13, 2026. The product page lists the earn rates and benefits but no sign-up offer.
Triangle runs frequent bonus events instead (Triangle Bonus Days, spend-and-get offers, weekly flyer and email offers), and cardholders earn those bonuses on top of the card's 4% at Canadian Tire family stores. They change week to week, so check the Triangle app before a big purchase.
Activate the Roadside Assistance Gold Plan as soon as the card arrives: it is not automatic, and coverage starts 24 hours after activation.
Fees & eligibility
The card has no annual fee ($0). Foreign currency purchases carry a 2.5% conversion fee, and cash advances cost 3% of the amount (up to $10).
It requires a personal income of $80,000 or household income of $150,000, and applications are taken online only. The standard rates are 21.99% on purchases and 22.99% on cash transactions, which include balance transfers; applicants outside Quebec who don't qualify at those rates can be approved at 25.99% and 27.99%. Quebec residents pay 21.99% on everything. As with any rewards card, the CT Money is only a gain if the balance is paid in full.
Earning rewards
The best rate is 4% back in CT Money on almost everything at Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Mark's, L'Équipeur, Party City, Atmosphere, Pro Hockey Life, Sports Rousseau, Hockey Experts, L'Entrepôt du Hockey and participating Sports Experts. Triangle bonus offers at those stores are paid on top of it.
At Gas+ and Petro-Canada the card earns 5 cents per litre on regular fuel and 7 cents on premium, counted on whole litres. Grocery stores earn 3% on the first $12,000 each calendar year, then 1%, and Walmart, Walmart Supercentre and Costco don't count as grocery stores. Everything else earns 1%.
Redeeming rewards
CT Money is denominated in dollars: $1 in CT Money equals $1 off at Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Mark's, L'Équipeur, Atmosphere, Party City, Pro Hockey Life, Sports Rousseau, Hockey Experts, L'Entrepôt du Hockey and participating Sports Experts stores. There is no conversion rate to learn and nothing to transfer.
The limit is where you can spend it. There is no statement credit or cash option on the product page, so the rewards are only worth face value to someone who shops in those stores anyway, and some items can't be bought with CT Money.
Perks & benefits
The headline perk is the Roadside Assistance Gold Plan: 5 service calls every 12 months across Canada and the US, with tows of up to 250 km to the destination of your choice, plus battery boosts, fuel delivery, lockouts, flat tire changes and winching. It also reimburses up to $200 in hotel, meals or transport if an accident leaves your car disabled more than 100 km from home. The plan has to be activated online, and it covers either your registered vehicle or you personally, depending on the plan type you pick.
The card also includes a 24/7 concierge service and no-fee, no-interest equal payments (typically over 24 months) on purchases of $150 or more at participating Canadian Tire family stores. There is no lounge access or travel credit.
Insurance
The insurance is limited to purchases and rentals. Purchase security covers new items against loss, damage or theft for 90 days, and extended warranty doubles the manufacturer's warranty by up to 1 year; each has a $10,000 calendar-year limit per account, and extended warranty has a $60,000 lifetime limit.
Rental car collision and loss damage covers rentals of up to 31 days on vehicles with an MSRP of up to $65,000, when you charge the full rental to the card and decline the agency's coverage. There is no travel medical, trip cancellation or travel accident insurance, so buy separate cover before leaving the province.
My take
I'd get this card if your household already spends regularly at Canadian Tire, Sport Chek or Mark's and drives enough to value a free roadside plan; I'd skip it if you rarely shop there or need travel insurance from your card.
The value depends on one question: will you spend the CT Money without buying things you didn't need? For a family that already outfits the car, the garage and a hockey bag at Canadian Tire stores, 4% there plus 3% on groceries comes back as real discounts, and the roadside plan could stand in for a paid roadside membership.
For everyone else, I'd look elsewhere. The 1% base rate is ordinary, the grocery rate stops at $12,000 and excludes Walmart and Costco, and the 2.5% FX fee and lack of travel medical make it a card to leave at home on trips.
The good
- 4% back in CT Money at Canadian Tire, Sport Chek and Mark's, with no annual fee
- Roadside Assistance Gold Plan: 5 calls a year with tows up to 250 km
- CT Money is worth face value: $1 equals $1 off
The catch
- CT Money only spends at Canadian Tire family stores
- No travel medical or trip insurance, and a 2.5% FX fee
- Grocery 3% stops at $12,000 a year and excludes Walmart and Costco
