The Rogers Red World Elite is a card I'd only look at if you already pay Rogers, Fido, Shaw or Comwave a monthly bill. With one of those services it earns 2% back on everything, plus 3% on U.S. dollar purchases, with no annual fee. Without one, the base drops to 1.5%, which is still respectable but no longer the reason to pick it.
The part I notice most is the insurance: a $0 card that includes $1,000,000 of emergency medical coverage is rare in Canada. The catches are a 2.5% foreign transaction fee, a $61,000 yearly cap on the accelerated rates, and a list of changes on November 18, 2026 that trades the old 1.5x Rogers redemption bonus for 5% on Rogers bills and removes trip cancellation coverage.
Welcome offer
There is no welcome bonus on the Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard right now. The product page leads with the earn rates and Roam Like Home days rather than a sign-up offer, as of October 13, 2026.
The only promotion is a contest: apply for and activate the card between October 1 and November 30, 2026, register through the opt-in form, and each separate purchase of $50 or more earns one entry (up to 10) for a two-night golf trip for four at Cabot Cape Breton in 2027. It is a draw, not a bonus, so it adds nothing you can count on.
With nothing to chase up front, the value is in ongoing earning. Check that your Rogers, Fido, Shaw or Comwave account links to the card (Rogers Bank says it usually happens automatically within 7 business days), because that link is what lifts the base rate from 1.5% to 2%.
Fees & eligibility
The card has no annual fee ($0), and authorized users are free too, with up to nine on one account. Rogers Bank allows only one of its credit cards per person, so this card replaces a Rogers Red Mastercard rather than sitting alongside it.
It requires a personal income of $80,000 or household income of $150,000. The standard interest rate is 21.99% on purchases and 22.99% on cash advances and balance transfers; applicants outside Quebec who don't qualify at those rates can be offered an account at 25.99% and 27.99%, and the standard rates can rise to those levels after two missed payments in 12 months. New purchases get a 21-day grace period, so the cash back only comes out ahead if you pay in full each month.
Earning rewards
With at least one eligible Rogers, Fido, Shaw or Comwave consumer service in good standing, you earn 2% cash back on everyday purchases. Without one, the rate is 1.5%. Eligible services include postpaid Rogers or Fido mobile plans and Rogers, Shaw, Fido or Comwave internet, TV, home phone, home monitoring or satellite plans; business and co-branded plans don't count.
Purchases made in U.S. dollars earn 3% for everyone. From November 18, 2026, eligible Rogers purchases earn 5%: bill payments to Rogers, Fido, Shaw or Comwave (not in store), online purchases from Rogers or Fido, TSC, direct Sportsnet+, CityTV+ or Discovery+ subscriptions, and the Jays Shop at Rogers Centre. In-store Rogers and Fido purchases and Blue Jays tickets are excluded.
Redeeming rewards
Cash back is held as points worth 1 cent per point (cpp), and the simplest use is to redeem against any eligible purchase posted in the last 90 days, online or in the Rogers Bank app, once you have at least $10. You can also ask for one annual statement credit by calling before December 1, which posts the following January.
Until November 17, 2026, redeeming in the app against eligible Rogers purchases is worth 1.5x, which is how Rogers arrives at its "up to 3% cash back value" headline (2% earned, redeemed at 1.5x). From November 18, 2026, every redemption is worth 1 cpp, even against Rogers charges posted before that date, so any balance earmarked for a Rogers bill is worth more if you use it before the change.
Perks & benefits
The perks lean on the Rogers connection. With an eligible Rogers postpaid mobile plan, you get 5 Roam Like Home days a year (Rogers values them at up to $90). From January 12, 2027, those days are replaced by a $75 annual roaming credit, reimbursed on request against Rogers roaming services such as Travel Passes or Roam Like Home daily roaming paid with the card.
There is no free lounge access. The card includes a Mastercard Travel Pass membership, which opens 1,300+ airport lounges at a discounted $32 USD per person per visit, so every visit is paid. Cardholders who spend more than $60,000 a year can be offered an upgrade to the Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard.
Insurance
For a $0 card the insurance is strong where it matters most: $1,000,000 of out-of-province emergency medical coverage for cardholders, spouses, dependent children and authorized users aged 75 or under, without having to charge the trip to the card. It currently covers the first 10 days of a trip at 64 and under (3 days from 65 to 75), rising to 15 days on November 18, 2026, when the pre-existing condition stability periods also shorten to 90 days (64 and under) and 150 days (65 to 75).
Trip cancellation and trip interruption (up to $1,000 per person and $5,000 per trip, full trip cost on the card) are included only until November 17, 2026; the certificate effective November 18 removes them, along with the trip delay benefit, though trips booked and charged before that date keep their cover. Rental car collision and loss damage (vehicles up to $65,000 MSRP, rentals up to 31 days) and purchase protection with extended warranty continue. There is no flight delay, baggage or travel accident insurance.
My take
I'd get this card if you already pay Rogers, Fido, Shaw or Comwave every month and want a flat 2% no-fee card with real travel medical cover; I'd skip it if you're not a Rogers customer or you spend often in currencies other than U.S. dollars.
For a Rogers household, 2% back on everything at $0, with emergency medical insurance attached, is hard to beat in Canada. The 3% on U.S. dollar purchases sounds better than it is once the 2.5% FX fee comes off, so I'd treat it as a modest cross-border card, not a travel card, and use something with no FX fee overseas.
The November changes cut both ways. 5% on Rogers bills paid online is a clean upgrade for anyone who paid those bills with the card anyway, while the end of the 1.5x redemption and the loss of trip cancellation take away two of the old reasons to hold it. If you spend past $60,000 a year, I'd look at the $495 Rogers Red World Legend instead, which drops the FX fee to 0%.
The good
- 2% cash back on everything with a Rogers, Fido, Shaw or Comwave service, and no annual fee
- $1,000,000 emergency medical insurance on a $0 card, 15 days from November 18, 2026
- 5% on Rogers, Fido, Shaw and Comwave bills paid online from November 18, 2026
The catch
- 2.5% foreign transaction fee eats most of the 3% U.S. dollar rate
- Base rate drops to 1.5% without a Rogers service, and after $61,000 a year
- Trip cancellation and interruption insurance ends November 17, 2026
