- Until November 16, 2026, Finnair Plus sells Avios at up to 50% off: 30% from 5,000, 35% from 20,000, 40% from 50,000 and 50% from 85,000.
- My cart showed 85,000 Avios for €935 instead of €1,870, about 1.72 Canadian cents an Avios.
- Only members who joined before October 30, 2026 and hold at least 50 Avios qualify.
- It's Finnair's second sale since 2025 and its best: February's gave up to 50% more Avios, which works out to a third off.
Finnair Plus collects Avios, the same currency as British Airways and Qatar Airways. Until November 16, 2026, it's selling them at up to 50% off, its first sale since a three-day flash sale in February.
Half price beats February's sale by a wide margin. That one gave up to 50% more Avios, which works out to a third off.

Finnair adds a fixed 10% bonus on tier points too. That only matters if you're chasing Finnair Plus status, and those tier points don't count toward Platinum Lumo, which needs tier points from Finnair flights.
What an Avios costs
My cart on Finnair's international site priced 85,000 Avios at €935, down from €1,870. That's 1.10 euro cents an Avios, or about 1.72 Canadian cents at the Bank of Canada's November 2 rate.
| You buy | Discount | Euro cents each | Canadian cents each |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5,000 to 19,000 | 30% | 1.54 | 2.41 |
| 20,000 to 49,000 | 35% | 1.43 | 2.24 |
| 50,000 to 84,000 | 40% | 1.32 | 2.07 |
| 85,000 to 200,000 | 50% | 1.10 | 1.72 |
Qatar Airways' October sale, at 60% more, came to 1.44 US cents an Avios, about 2.01 Canadian cents. So Finnair's top tier is cheaper, and its 40% tier costs about the same. Every program's sales are on my buy points page.
Who can buy
Only Finnair Plus members who joined before October 30, 2026 and have at least 50 Avios in the account. You can't open an account now and buy in this sale.
The 50 Avios matter. My account had fewer, and Finnair's cart showed the full price: 30,000 Avios for €660, with no discount line. I moved 50 Avios over from British Airways (linked accounts transfer at 1:1), and the discount showed up.
Gift purchases don't count, and the Avios land in your account one to three days after you buy. A purchase also counts as activity, so your existing Finnair Avios stay valid for another 18 months.
The cheaper way in
Avios move between British Airways Club and Finnair Plus at 1:1, free and instantly, once you link the accounts. From Canada, Amex Membership Rewards and RBC Avion points both go to British Airways at 1:1.
Until November 30, 2026, RBC also adds a 30% bonus on conversions to British Airways: 13 Avios for every 10 Avion points, for Avion Elite cards. If you have the points, moving them costs nothing.
When buying makes sense
Only if you're short Avios for an award you've already found and have no bank points to move.
Purchases are final, so find the award first.
How to buy
- Sign in to Finnair Plus and open the buy Avios page. Prices only show once you're signed in.
- Pick the amount. The discount shows next to the price, so check you're in the tier you want. No discount line means you're under the 50-Avios minimum.
- Check the total and the currency, then pay.
Past Finnair sales
| Dates | Sale | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Nov 2 to 16, 2026 | Up to 50% off | 30% to 50% by amount, plus 10% tier points |
| Feb 2 to 5, 2026 | Up to 50% more | Flash sale |
The February sale comes from LoyaltyLobby's report.
Final Thoughts
Half price is the best Finnair has offered, and it's cheaper than Qatar's October sale. Still, unless you need to top up Avios for a booking you've found, I don't recommend buying them on speculation.
Avios are easy to earn in Canada with RBC cards, since Avion points move to British Airways at 1:1, and this month RBC's 30% bonus makes that route even better.
