- Until October 19, 2026, Qatar Airways adds up to 60% more Avios when you buy: 30% from 5,000, 50% from 21,000 and 60% from 42,000.
- It's targeted: the offer shows once you sign in, and tiers can differ by account.
- At the top tier, 250,000 Avios plus the 150,000 bonus cost US$5,750, about 1.44 US cents each.
- Amex and RBC points go to British Airways 1:1, and Avios move from there to Qatar Airways for free, so buying is a top-up.
Qatar Airways has put Avios on sale again, with up to 60% more until October 19, 2026. Its sales are short: this one opened October 16 and ends at 11:59pm Doha time, which is 4:59pm in Toronto.
The bonus grows with the amount, and the offer is targeted, so sign in to see your own tiers.

What an Avios costs
At the top tier, 400,000 Avios cost US$5,750, about 1.44 US cents each. That's roughly 2 Canadian cents at the October 16 exchange rate, and Qatar charges in US dollars.
The smaller tiers come with a smaller bonus, so each Avios costs more there.
Is it a good sale?
It's a normal one for Qatar. From January 2025 to October 2026 it ran nine, with bonuses of 50% to 65%, and the best, in December 2025, came to about 1.39 US cents an Avios.
They come every two to three months and usually last four to eight days, so they're easy to miss.
The Avios shortcut for Canadians
Before you buy, check your Amex and RBC points. Amex Membership Rewards and RBC Avion points both transfer to British Airways at 1:1, and Avios then move from British Airways to Qatar Airways 1:1, free and instantly, once the accounts are linked.
Qatar only links with British Airways, so that's the route. My transfer partners page has the details, and RBC sometimes runs transfer bonuses to British Airways.
Buying makes sense when you're a few thousand Avios short and don't have bank points to move.
How to buy
- Sign in to Privilege Club and open the buy Avios page.
- Choose the amount. Your tiers show once you're signed in.

Final Thoughts
60% is about average for Qatar. If you need Avios and have no Amex or RBC points to move, it's a fair price, but don't rush for it.
Another sale will likely come along in two or three months.
