Air France KLM Flying Blue puts miles on sale a few times a year, in two flavours: up to 45% off, or up to 80% more miles. In 2026, some members got one offer and some got the other.
The last sale ended July 28, 2026. Before you wait for the next one, though, check your Amex points.

How the sales work
The discount comes in tiers. In the spring 2026 sale it was 35% off for 4,000 to 10,000 miles, 40% for 12,000 to 22,000 and 45% from 24,000.
At 45% off, July's price was about 1.38 euro cents a mile. That's about 2.2 Canadian cents at the October 16 exchange rate.
The cheaper way in
Since January 1, 2026, Amex Membership Rewards points transfer to Flying Blue at 1:1, in up to three days. It used to be 1,000 to 750.
With that rate, I'd move Amex points before paying 2.2 cents a mile. Marriott Bonvoy (3:1) and IHG (5:1) points transfer too, at much worse rates. My transfer partners page has every route.
How to buy
- Sign in to Flying Blue and open the Miles hub. It sends you to the buy page for your country.
- Choose the amount. During a sale, your offer, a discount or a bonus, shows before you pay.
- Check the total and the currency before you confirm.
Purchases are final, so find the award first.

Final Thoughts
For Canadians with Amex points, buying Flying Blue miles rarely makes sense anymore. The 1:1 transfer changed that.
