- Until October 20, 2026, LifeMiles adds 125% to 145% more miles, depending on how many you buy.
- In my cart, 21,000 miles plus the 28,350 bonus came to US$693, so miles cost 3.30 US cents each before the bonus.
- At the top tier, a mile works out to about 1.35 US cents (about 1.9 Canadian cents).
- LifeMiles went to 160% twice in 2026, so this sale is good but not its best.
Avianca LifeMiles has another buy miles sale, with up to 145% more miles until October 20, 2026. I priced it in my cart on October 17: 21,000 miles came with 28,350 more for US$693.
That's the 135% tier, the middle one. Buy 51,000 miles or more and the bonus goes to 145%.

What a mile costs
My cart works out to 3.30 US cents a mile before the bonus, and about 1.40 US cents after it. At the 145% tier, it's about 1.35 US cents, or roughly 1.9 Canadian cents at the October 16 exchange rate.
LifeMiles charges in US dollars, so add your card's foreign transaction fee if it has one.
Is it a good sale?
It's a good one, but not LifeMiles' best. The bonus went to 160% twice in 2026, in January and March, which brought the price to about 1.27 US cents. LoyaltyLobby also reported a 170% sale in 2025, at about 1.22 cents.
LifeMiles has run six of these sales in 2026 so far. If you don't need the miles this week, waiting for a 160% sale would save about 6%.
Why LifeMiles
LifeMiles books flights on Star Alliance airlines, the same group as Aeroplan. For Canadians, it's a second way to book the same flights, and worth a look when Aeroplan wants more points for a seat.
No Canadian bank points transfer to LifeMiles. Marriott Bonvoy points go at 3:1 and IHG points at 5:1, but those rates are poor, so buying during a sale is the usual way in.
How to buy
- Sign in at LifeMiles.com and open the buy miles page.
- Choose the amount. The bonus shows in the cart, and it goes up at 21,000 and 51,000 miles.
- Pay in US dollars.
Purchases are final, so check the award space before you buy.
Past LifeMiles sales
| Dates | Bonus | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Oct 12 to 20, 2026 | Up to 145% | 125% to 145% by amount |
| Sep 16 to 25, 2026 | Up to 145% | Flash sale |
| Jul 15 to 24, 2026 | Up to 130% | |
| Mar 13 to 22, 2026 | Up to 160% | About 1.27 US cents a mile |
| Feb 9 to 23, 2026 | Up to 155% | |
| Jan 10 to 19, 2026 | Up to 160% |
These come from LoyaltyLobby's reports, so the start dates are approximate. I track every program's sales on my buy points page.
Final Thoughts
1.35 US cents a mile is a fair price for LifeMiles, and the 51,000-mile tier is where you get it.
If you can wait, I'd hold out for a 160% sale. If you've already found the seat, this one is fine.
