Transfer RBC Avion Points to Cathay Pacific with a 15% Bonus

15% to Asia Miles doesn't come around often. It's worth it if you already have a Cathay Pacific trip in mind, and not before.

Share
The short version
  • Until October 16, 2026, RBC Avion points convert to Cathay Asia Miles at 1:1.15 instead of 1:1.
  • Only Avion Elite members can convert to Asia Miles, with a 10,000-point minimum.
  • Conversions can take up to four weeks and can't be reversed.
  • RBC has run a 15% Asia Miles bonus twice since 2025, and 30% Avios bonuses three times.

RBC is giving a 15% bonus on Avion points converted to Cathay Asia Miles until October 16, 2026. That turns 10,000 Avion points into 11,500 Asia Miles instead of 10,000.

I picked up the RBC® Avion® Visa Platinum‡ this summer, so this is the first RBC bonus I've looked at as an Avion member rather than from the outside.

Who can convert

Only Avion Elite members can convert to Asia Miles. You're Elite if you hold at least one of RBC's Elite cards:

  • RBC Avion Visa Infinite
  • RBC® Avion® Visa Platinum‡
  • RBC® Avion® Visa Infinite Privilege‡ (including the Private Banking version)
  • RBC® Avion® Visa Infinite Business‡, RBC Royal Bank Visa Business Platinum Avion and RBC Commercial Avion Visa

Avion Premium members can only convert to WestJet. Check which tier your Avion account shows before you plan around this.

How to convert

You convert in the Avion Rewards site under "Convert points", with no registration needed. The Asia Miles account has to be in the same name as your Avion account.

Give it time. RBC says up to four weeks for the points to convert and the miles to show up, and a conversion can't be reversed.

Past bonuses on Avion to Asia Miles

RBC's own bonuses come from its offer pages. Cathay also runs campaigns of its own for Canadians, which I've listed from published reports. I'll add each new one here.

Cathay's 2026 campaign needed registration and was for Canadian residents outside Quebec. Published reports listed RBC Avion among the eligible programs, but Cathay's own terms don't name them.

Is it worth it?

If you have a Cathay Pacific or oneworld award in mind, 15% extra is a nice discount on it. Convert what you need, not your whole balance.

If you don't, I'd wait. Avios has had a 30% bonus three times since 2025, so there's no rush to move points just because there's a bonus on.

Are you converting any Avion points this time? Let me know in the comments where you're headed.
