This is Amex's top Aeroplan card in its business edition, and like the personal Reserve it is priced for people who fly Air Canada often. The business twist is in the earning: 3x on Air Canada, 2.5x at Hyatt and 2x on hotels and car rentals booked directly or through Amex Travel, in place of the personal card's 2x on dining. For a company that spends on business trips rather than restaurants, I think that is the better mix.
The value is at the airport. Maple Leaf Lounge access with a guest, a free first checked bag and priority boarding for you and up to 8 companions, a companion pass after $25,000 in spend and a fast route to Aeroplan Elite Status are what the fee pays for. I'd only point a business here if someone on the account flies Air Canada several times a year, especially with the fee moving to $799 in January.
Welcome offer
The standard public offer on the Amex page, read on October 13, 2026, is up to 90,000 Aeroplan points. The first 65,000 points come after $10,500 in net purchases in your first 3 months. The other 25,000 points need $3,500 in purchases charged in month 13, which means paying the second-year fee, and that renewal will be at $799.
Amex also shows some visitors a higher version of the same offer, 80,000 plus 40,000 for up to 120,000 points, marked as available to that visitor on that page. Current or former Aeroplan Business Reserve Cardmembers may be approved but are not eligible, and Aeroplan's own rule on bonuses from a same-category Aeroplan card at any issuer can also apply. No end date is published, so confirm the offer you are shown before applying.
$10,500 in 3 months is $3,500 a month, a realistic target if you route supplier bills, advertising and team travel through the card from day one. Book any planned Air Canada flights directly with the airline during that window, since they earn 3x and count toward the threshold. If the page shows you the higher 120,000 version, the spend targets are the same, so that is the one to take.
Fees & eligibility
The annual fee is $599 today, with no first-year waiver, and Amex has announced it rises to $799 for annual fees charged on or after January 12, 2027. Supplementary Aeroplan Business Reserve Cards are $199 each (rising to $249) and carry the travel benefits, while the no-fee supplementary card becomes the Aeroplan Business Reserve Expense Card at $25 a year on the same date. Up to 99 supplementary cards can sit on one account, and their spend counts toward the basic cardholder's SQC.
Unlike the Business Platinum and Business Gold, this is a credit card, not a charge card. Purchases and funds advances carry 21.99%, rising to 25.99% and/or 29.99% after missed payments. Amex prints no minimum income and no foreign transaction fee on the product page, so confirm the FX charge before relying on the card abroad.
Earning rewards
Earning is built around business travel. Purchases made directly with Air Canada, including Air Canada Vacations, earn 3 Aeroplan points per dollar; tickets bought through other sites or travel agents, including Amex Travel, do not qualify. Participating Hyatt hotels earn 2.5 points per dollar until July 15, 2029, and other hotels and car rentals booked directly or through American Express Travel earn 2 points per dollar.
Everything else earns 1.25 points per dollar, so software, suppliers and advertising still earn a bit more than a 1x card. Compared with the personal Aeroplan Reserve, the business card gives up 2x on dining and food delivery and gains 2.5x at Hyatt and 2x on hotels and car rentals in general. Supplementary card spend earns into the same Aeroplan account.
Redeeming rewards
Aeroplan is an airline program with dynamic pricing, so value depends on the route and cabin. Amex says most of its Aeroplan cardholders get 2 cents per point (cpp) or more on flight redemptions, and eligible basic cardholders can see preferred pricing that books flight rewards for fewer points.
Cardholders get a 4th night free on Aeroplan hotel redemptions for bookings through December 31, 2026, and Amex lists it as a card benefit from January 12, 2027, together with FLY15OFF (15% fewer points on eligible Air Canada flight rewards) and a 4th day free on car rental redemptions. Unlike the Business Platinum and Business Gold, these are Aeroplan points, not Membership Rewards, so they cannot be moved to other airlines or hotels.
Perks & benefits
The airport is where the fee goes. You and a guest get into Maple Leaf Lounges and Air Canada Cafés in Canada and the US when departing on Air Canada or a Star Alliance airline, and you plus up to 8 companions on the same reservation get a free first checked bag, priority check-in, Zone 2 boarding, priority baggage, priority standby and higher upgrade priority. Spend more than $25,000 in a card year and you receive an Annual Worldwide Companion Pass, with a companion economy base fare of $99 to $599 depending on the region.
The basic cardholder also gets 1,000 SQC per $5,000 spent (up to 25,000 a year) toward Aeroplan Elite Status, Priority Pass membership with pay-per-visit lounges, a NEXUS credit of up to $100 every 4 years, Hyatt Discoverist status, Avis President's Club, Pearson valet and parking discounts and Employee Card Misuse Protection of up to $100,000. From January 12, 2027, Amex adds 2 free Priority Pass visits a year (10 with $25,000 in calendar-year spend), 8 Aspire Amex lounge passes in Canada, worldwide Maple Leaf Lounges and up to $100 a year in AC Wallet credit. The business card's list does not include the personal Reserve's $200 dining credit or 10% bonus points.
Insurance
Travel insurance is underwritten by Belair Insurance, with $5 million of emergency medical for the first 15 days of a trip for insured persons age 64 or under, and no medical coverage at 65 or older. Trip cancellation pays up to $1,500 per person and $3,000 per trip, and trip interruption up to $1,500 per person and $6,000 per trip, on travel charged to the card or booked with Aeroplan points.
Flight delay of 4 hours or more and baggage delay of 6 hours share a $1,000 limit, lost baggage and hotel burglary pay up to $1,000 each, and travel accident pays up to $500,000. Rental cars with an MSRP up to $85,000 are covered for theft and damage for up to 48 days with no deductible, and purchases are protected for 90 days with a 1-year warranty extension. There is no mobile device insurance on this certificate.
My take
I'd get this card if someone in the business flies Air Canada several times a year and books their own hotels and rentals; I'd skip it for a business that rarely travels.
The case is the same as the personal Reserve: Maple Leaf Lounge, free bags and priority service for up to 9 people, a companion pass and SQC are worth real money to a frequent Air Canada traveller. What tips it toward the business version is the earning, with 2x on hotels and car rentals and 2.5x at Hyatt instead of 2x on dining.
The fee is the catch. It is $599 now and $799 from January 12, 2027, so anyone opening it today renews at the higher price, and the 25,000-point month-13 bonus sits behind that renewal. If the page shows you the 120,000-point version, I think the first year is easy to justify; after that, it comes down to how often you fly.
